Dreaming of a relaxing beach vacation … but have toddlers and preschoolers? It’s still possible!

After months of planning, I was SO ready for a few days of relaxing at the beach. There was just one problem - Last summer when I took my kids to the beach, after 5 minutes they wanted to leave! I needed something to entice them to want to stay on the beach and that would engage and occupy their time.

Well here’s the solution: The Big Digger!

I have 2 boys - 5 yr old and 3 yr old - and these were a HIT. At least 25 people asked us about them as they strolled the beach, sharing just how much their kids or grandkids would love them too!

They were amazing! My kids were excited to go to the beach every day for a week! They played on these for hours each day. The loved that other kids came over to play with them too. I mean, who wants to build a sand castle when you can build a sand volcano - my 5 year old’s idea! 😂

Are you thinking - these seem cool but they are big and bulky to travel with - or they will be fun for a week and then just sit in the shed or garage.

• They come boxed up which is how we traveled with them - and took up very little space in the trunk. It took less than 20 minutes to build one and you could take it apart when you return home. Or, like what we did, we just took the bottoms off and they laid pretty flat!

• How cool would these be in winter??? It’s mid march and we are back in Pennsylvania but the forecast is calling for 6 inches of snow in about 10 days. I hope it holds true as we didn’t see any snow this year. If we get it - I’m positive the boys will test them out in the snow.

• Another idea I have but haven’t tested out yet either is filling a sandbox with corn (from the feed store) or even small pebbles. We don’t have a sandbox in our yard because there are a few cats the roam the neighborhood and would think it’s their liter box.

The Big Digger gave me my first real vacation with some chill time since we had kids!!! They had a blast and I got to catch some rays with my feet in the waves listening to their laugher for hours!
